  • Benefits of Pond and Lake Aeration (video)

Friday, August 21, 2015

Oxygen is the most critical component to a healthy pond environment.

Almost everything in your pond uses oxygen in some way or another. With oxygen present on the pond bottom, bacteria can decompose organics like plant matter and animal waste quickly and completely without the foul smell of rotten eggs.

Fish require oxygen to live and grow. With higher levels of oxygen, fish are more active, feed often and grow faster. They are also less prone to disease and death due to stress.

Aeration is the process of adding oxygen to a body of water. It also stimulates movement which helps water mix properly and prevents pond stratification or layering of various temperature zones in the water column. A healthy pond has a good mixture of oxygen and temperature throughout.
