Calculate The Volume Of Water In Your Pool

It is better to calculate the pool volume in litres rather than gallons, as it is easier to calculate the quantity of water balancing products required in metric rather than imperial. TIP - If you know your pools volume in gallons (US) multiply the amount of gallons by 3.8 to give you an estimate of the volume in litres. I.e. 1,000-gallons is approximately 3,800-litres.

Round or Oval Swimming Pool

Dia. x Dia. x Avg. Depth x 5.9 = Gallons (US) (To convert to litres multiply number of gallons by 3.8 )

*Average depth is calculated by (depth in the shallow end + depth in the deep end) divided by 2.

Example:
24' pool with an average depth of 3.5'
24 x 24 x 3.5 x 5.9 = 11,894 Gallons (US)
11,894 x 3.8 = 45,197.2 Litres

Square or Rectangular Swimming Pool

Width x Length x Avg Depth x 7.5 = Gallons (US)

*Average depth is calculated by (depth in the shallow end + depth in the deep end) divided by 2.
*To convert to litres multiply number of gallons by 3.8

Example:
20' x 40' pool with an average depth of 5.5'
20 x 40 x 5.5 x 7.5 = 33,000 Gallons (US)
33,000 x 3.8 = 125,400 Litres

If you are unsure consult the manual supplied with the swimming pool.
